WAVES + International Platform on Sport and Development

Because of the dedication and vision from volunteers and staff, SportandDev.org took notice and asked WAVES to submit an article for the International Platform on Sport and Development. Here it is: “WAVES for Development pays tribute to Peruvian women”. The media piece that grabbed their attention was the trailer release for Mujer Mar, a participatory (short) documentary highlighting the women of Lobitos, a sleepy Peruvian surf town previously known for it’s military base, oil extraction and subsistence fishing. As anyone that has visited Lobitos knows, it’s a magically place with so much more. We’re just scratching the surface of the many stories waiting to be told. In this case, we’re facilitating women showing how critical they are to not only their families, but to tourism and surfing.
