Lobitos School trip to Puerto Pizarro.

On July 7th WAVES English and Environmental programs combined to organize a trip to Tumbes with the principal, teachers and students of 6th grade primary school. It was the first time that most of the children left their Lobitos houses, for two days and they discovered an amazing place located a 4hour-ride north called “Puerto Pizarro”.

Sunset over the mangroves

It is a place full of marvels, nature, and friendly people, and of course good food. This time the whole crew goal was learning more about the mangroves, a magic plant that nurtures crabs and holds birds and gives the place a beautiful forest view.

Bird island

To get to these mangrove trees, we depend on little boats plus the ocean’s high tide, which allows the boat to navigate.

On an adventure

These trees are the birds “love place” where they court and mate. I myself was amazed to be in such amazing place and the kids loved of course. Back in the hotel kids loved soaking themselves in the pool as long as they could, until they got hungry. They would run to the kitchen for the lunch. All in all, it was two days of enjoyment, talking to the local people, getting to know the place better, eating good food, relaxing a bit and having nice company around.

Fresh fish anyone?

Junior.
