CAPTURE included in Challenging Surf: A Collection of Surfing Shorts
27 Apr 2011by Dave AaboSMASH Productions, LLC Presents Challenging Surf: A Collection of Surfing Shorts That Are Redefining Surf Film at the Sri Chinmoy Pop Up Gallery (18 Jay Street) in downtown Tribeca, Saturday, April 30th 2011 6pm-9pm. Challenging Surf is a selection of surf films that represent a different look and perspective of what a surf film is and can be. These are not considered your typical surf films and have been shot in many different ways from Enrique Huerta’s Short film The End is There shot on an Iphone to the Sanjay Rawal’s Ocean Monk which chronicles the inner and outer search of a group of surfing monks who make their home in New York City. CAPTURE: A WAVES Documentary follows a ski photographer from Utah as he ventures to Peru as a Surf Voluntourist. All of the films are thoughtful meditations on what it means to be a surfer in the 21st Century. This event is a free and open to the public.
The Sri Chinmoy Pop Up Gallery is dedicated to CHALLENGING IMPOSSIBILITY, a film about Sri Chinmoy’s weightlifting exploits which is now playing at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival
